Spain’s imports of liquefied natural gas rose 1.3 percent in March on a yearly basis, according to the data provided by the LNG terminal operator, Enagás.
LNG imports reached 10.6 terawatt hours (TWh) in March as compared to 10.4 TWh in the same month the year before, the data shows.
Total natural gas imports, including piped supplies, rose 15 percent to 32.2 TWh.
Breaking down the LNG imports by countries, Nigeria was the biggest supplier to Spain last month with 3.41 TWh, followed by Qatar with 2.69 TWh.
Comparing these volumes year-on-year, Nigerian LNG supplies dropped 32.9 percent, while Qatari volumes surged almost 200 percent.
The rest of Spain’s March LNG volumes were sourced from Trinidad and Tobago (1.81 TWh), Algeria (1.47 TWh), Peru (0.71 TWh) and France (0.48 TWh).
The Barcelona regasification plant received six LNG cargoes out of the total 14 cargoes imported into Spain during the month under review.
One cargo unloaded at the Mugardos plant was a partial cargo as the vessel unloaded between February and March, according to Enagás.
Huelva handled four LNG cargoes in March while two were unloaded at the Bilbao facility.
The Cartagena terminal received one cargo of the chilled fuel during the month under review.
