US LNG export project developer, NextDecade said on Monday it had opened offices in Singapore and Beijing to serve customers throughout Asia.

The developer of the 27 mtpa Rio Grande LNG export facility in South Texas also said in a statement that, effective April 23, James MacTaggart would join the company as senior vice president of LNG marketing.

MacTaggart has served more than 20 years with the Hague-based LNG giant Shell in various marketing and trading positions.

Before joining NextDecade, MacTaggart was the head of Shell’s new gas and LNG markets business in Asia, India, and the Middle East, the statement said.

He will be based in and will lead NextDecade’s newly-opened Singapore office.

“The appointment of James and the opening of these offices reinforce our commitment to serving the world’s largest and fastest growing LNG markets,” said Matt Schatzman , NextDecade’s chief executive.

“We believe focusing on these markets is key to achieving a successful final investment decision on our Rio Grande LNG project,” added Schatzman.
