Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering has ordered an offshore wind installation vessel with a lifting capacity of 2,500 tonnes from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC).

The vessel – developed, designed and to be manufactured by ZPMC – is 100 meters long, 48 meters wide and has a maximum lifting capacity of 2,500 tonnes, exceeding the capacity of the Longyuan Zhenhua 3 self-propelled installation vessel.

The Longyuan Zhenhua 3 was also built for Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering, a 50-50 joint venture between ZPMC and Jiangsu Longyuan Offshore Wind Power (a unit of China Longyuan Power Group). The new vessel will be the fourth offshore wind installation vessel ZPMC will build for Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering.

At the beginning of April, Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering secured an EPC contract for the first phase of China’s Guangdong Yudean Zhanjiang Wailuo offshore wind farm. The project’s general EPC contractor, Guangdong Electric Power Design & Research Institute, awarded the joint venture with the engineering, procurement and construction of the offshore wind farm’s monopiles and 220kV substation.

As reported today, 23 April, ZPMC has also taken the first step in developing a 4,500KJ hydraulic pile hammer for the installation of large offshore wind turbine foundations.
