Bombora Wave Power, an Australian wave energy developer with newly established headquarters in Wales, is looking to hire an engineer responsible for the delivery of mWave device’s electrical parts.
Bombora is scouting for a professional with experience in innovative marine projects who would be responsible for the electrical elements of the first mWave device as the company’s Senior Electrical Engineer.
Bombora’s mWave device features a series of air-inflated rubber membranes mounted to a concrete structure on the sea floor.
As waves pass over the mWave, the air inside the membranes is squeezed into a duct and through a turbine. The turbine spins a generator to produce electricity. The air is then recycled to re-inflate the membranes to prepare them for the next wave.
Acting as the lead engineer with regards to the design of electrical elements of the mWave machine, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing the power take-off (PTO) system.
Based out of Bombora’s Pembroke Dock offices in Wales, the Senior Electrical Engineer will also advise on machine assembly procedures, the company said.
The position is open for applications until May 14, 2018.
To remind, Bombora secured a multi-million dollar investment from Enzen to support the construction of its first commercial-sized mWave wave energy device.
