GAC Taiwan, a unit of the Dubai-headquartered GAC Group, has won an agency contract from Indonesia’s liquefied natural gas provider and operator Donggi-Senoro LNG (DSLNG).

DSLNG operates a two million tons per year liquefaction and export plant in the Central Sulawesi province of Indonesia.

Under the deal, GAC Taiwan will handle DSLNG’s vessels’ calls and provide discharge agency and husbandry services at Taiwanese LNG terminals in Taichung and Yung An, according to a GAC statement on Monday.

Managing Director Kenny So said in the statement that the contract win comes after the steady growth of agency business for all types of vessels, including LNG carriers, since the opening of GAC Taiwan’s shipping office in Kaohsiung in 2017.

“Winning the DSLNG business reinforces our optimism about the future of the LNG agency business in Taiwan, which is the world’s fifth largest LNG buyer,” he said.

So added that the company expects the number of LNG calls to rise, as Taiwan increases its LNG imports to drive power sector growth.
