EWC nearing completion of Pagbilao LNG terminal in Philippines

Energy World Corporation is moving forward with the construction of its Pagbilao liquefied natural gas (LNG) hub terminal in the Philippines.

The project’s 130,000-cbm LNG tank and jetty located some 90 kilometers southeast of Manilla are 92 percent complete, according to a presentation released by EWC last week.

The facility is expected to enter into service during the course of this year.

As previously reported by LNG World News, EWC also started building the second tank at the terminal with a capacity of 130,000 cbm.

With the completion of the first LNG tank, the facility will be able of handling a throughput of about 3 mtpa of LNG per year.

The Pagbilao LNG terminal will be run on a tolling model for third-party clients. It will act as a hub where LNG will be imported and stored in its tanks for later distribution to users around the Philippines.

The terminal will also support the 650 MW gas-powered power plant being built adjacent to the LNG facility.

The power plant is being developed in three stages. Block 1 with a 200 MW gas turbine is 86 percent complete while Block 2 with the same capacity gas turbine is 83 percent done, according to the presentation.

Block 3 with a 250 MW steam turbine is ready to take equipment deliveries as the foundations were completed, EWC said.
