Blue Water Ventures International and its partner Endurance Exploration Group have verified the identity of the wreck of the steamboat Pulaski.

The companies last week recovered several items contain the name ‘ Pulaski ‘ stamped on the artifacts, establishing the ship’s provenance.

The Pulaski sank in 1838 off the coast of North Carolina.

The team of divers, during a salvage operation, discovered coins and artifacts, and among others a candlestick holder marked with the name ‘SB Pulaski’.

To date, the Pulaski site has produced 115 gold and silver coins, all dated prior to 1838. These finds represent early American coinage, Spanish colonial and British coins. ll coins are being conserved and appraised by Numismatic Guarantee Corporation.

Keith Webb of Blue Water Ventures said, “ As the weather conditions improve off the coast of North Carolina, the Blue Water Rose will be working as much as possible on the site to fully recover this shipwreck. We are proud to share the history and legacy of this lost but not forgotten piece of American history. ”

Micah Eldred of Endurance Exploration Group added, “We are pleased to positively identify this wreck site as that of SB Pulaski, and while we are elated with the recoveries to date, this only represents a tiny fraction of the currency, jewelry and other unique items lost on this shipwreck. We look forward to an exciting 2018 recovery season.”
