Bombora, an Australian wave energy developer is looking for a senior structural engineer and a senior control engineer, who will join the company’s European team at its recently established headquarters in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Bombora, an Australian wave energy developer is looking for a senior structural engineer and a senior control engineer, who will join the company’s European team at its recently established headquarters in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

For both positions, Bomobora is inviting candidates with experience in innovative marine energy projects.

Bombora’s Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design and delivery of the membrane and other structural elements of the first mWave device. This role will include development of the flexible membrane that pumps air through the system.

Senior Control Engineer will be in charge of the design and delivery of the control architecture for the first mWave device. The role includes leading the design of structural elements and the control architecture of the mWave machine.

Bombora’s mWave wave energy converter features a series of air-inflated rubber membranes mounted to a concrete structure on the sea floor. As waves pass over the mWave, the air inside the membranes is squeezed into a duct and through a turbine. The turbine spins a generator to produce electricity. The air is then recycled to re-inflate the membranes to prepare them for the next wave.

To remind, in November 2017 Bombora unveiled plans to establish office in the south of Wales at Pembroke Dock to house a team focused on a two and a half year, €20 million project to design, fabricate and test the first 1.5MW mWave prototype.
