Cyprus-based Seatankers Management, part of the Fredriksen Group, has bought four platform supply vessels from China’s Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding.
According to VesselsValue, the maritime and offshore analytics company, Seatankers bought three platform supplier hulls, designated MW6282, MW6283, MW6285, and the already launched Armada Tuah 520, formerly known as MW6281.
All four vessels have a deadweight of 5,200 tonnes and a deck space of 720 square meters.
This is the company’s first addition to its PSV fleet since it currently has 18 vessels, 14 bulkers and four tankers. The company is also awaiting 12 newbuildings in 2019 and 2020.
Although VesselsValue didn’t provide any figures regarding the price for the vessels, the total market value of the vessels is $71.4 million. Data from the website indicates that the acquisition was made on Thursday, May 10.
It is worth mentioning that all four vessels were initially ordered by Nam Cheong, a Singapore-listed offshore vessel owner, in 2013.
Back in October 2017 , Nam Cheong applied for protection with Singapore’s High Court in order to complete its restructuring efforts.
Nam Cheong filed an application on October 6 with the High Court of the Republic of Singapore to protect the company and its assets for a period of six months from the date of the application or until further order.
