East Coast Oil and Gas Engineering (EC-OG) has been shortlisted as finalist in the 2018 European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE).

As one of eleven British businesses that have been put forward to represent the UK at the awards, EC-OG will participate in the ‘Product’ category for the Subsea Power Hub at the 2018 EBAE which reward technological innovations that promote and encourage a more sustainable environment.

EC-OG’s Subsea Power Hub is a hybrid-based ocean current energy conversion system with integrated energy storage that exploits the energy within the currents to convert, store and deliver electricity on demand.

The Subsea Power Hub has been designed to power subsea infrastructure for various applications, including for clients in the oil and gas sector.

Commenting on the announcement of the UK finalists, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for the Environment, Roseanna Cunningham said:

“The Scottish government has a clear vision for a low carbon Scotland. We want to build a country which trains, attracts and retains the businesses and the innovators who will shape the low carbon transition. I hope these businesses will encourage others to think innovatively about how we can create a cleaner, greener, climate-ready Scotland.”

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in November, EC-OG noted.

Launched in 1987, and organized by the Directorate-General for the Environment European Commission, the awards play a key role in the European Commission’s mission to promote a circular economy, innovation and participation in green markets across European companies.
