In just over two weeks the international shipping community will gather in Athens for the biennial Posidonia 2018 Conference, taking place on June 4-8, 2018.

This year’s program will kick things off with the 6th Analyst & Investor Day of the Capital Link Forum, taking place at the Divani Caravel Hotel, on Monday, June 4. The keynote speaker, IMO Secretary General, Kitack Lim, will set the tone of forum, which will discuss the current status and future projections of the financial and capital markets in relation to the shipping industry.

The forum will also address access to and availability of capital, bank and alternative finance, as well as the impact of technology and new regulations. The forum will feature panelists from the Greek and international maritime communities, the global shipping heads of major shipping banking institutions, top investors and analysts.

Another must-attend event is BIMCO’s Power Panel which will debate some key developments impacting shipping business today with the focus being on challenges and future prospects for the dry bulk and oil tanker shipping markets, including the 2020 global sulphur cap experiment. BIMCO’s event will be hosted by its Chief Shipping Analyst Peter Sand and the BIMCO President Anastasios Papagiannopoulos, who will open the event.

Korean-Hellenic Maritime Cooperation Forum, Japan Seminar at Posidonia 2018 and “Trading in US Waters: Priorities and Solutions” seminar will be among a number of conferences, seminars and media roundtables planned during this year’s Posidonia.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s state oil company Saudi Aramco, and its partners Lamprell, the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), have chosen the event for the global unveiling of their International Maritime Industries (IMI) joint venture.

For the final day of this year’s Posidonia, Greek Shipowners Association plans to hold a press conference, which is expected, once again, to set the agenda of the shipping industry, for the next two years.

Organisers expect to welcome over 22,000 shipping executives and government delegation members during the five days of the event, including a strong presence of the Greek shipowning community.
