The offshore installation phase of the Early Production System on the Lancaster field (Lancaster EPS) development has begun.
Hurricane Energy said on Wednesday that the first operation to be carried out was the installation of the enhanced horizontal Xmas trees on the two existing wells on the field, located in the West of Shetland area.
The company added that the Far Superior offshore construction vessel successfully landed and secured both Xmas trees and was now scheduled to demobilize.
Additional logistical work is also taking place at the field ahead of the installation of the turret mooring system for the FPSO.
Robert Trice , Hurricane chief executive, said: “I’m delighted to see the start of the installation phase of the project with activity beginning to take place offshore. All workstreams are proceeding well; we remain on budget and on schedule for first oil in H1 2019.”
Hurricane made the Final Investment Decision on the development of the Lancaster EPS in September 2017. The company plans a phased development of the Lancaster field.
The first phase of the development is the EPS, using two wells tied back to the Bluewater-owned Aoka Mizu floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO is being upgraded for Lancaster at Drydocks’ Dubai shipyard.
It is also worth reminding that TechnipFMC won a contract for an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for the Lancaster EPS in September 2017. The contract covers the provision of subsea equipment including umbilicals, risers, flowlines, and the subsea production system for the project.
