Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up Pacific Orca has arrived in the Port of Esbjerg to load the last four MHI Vestas turbines for Vattenfall’s European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) in the Aberdeen Bay.

The 93.2MW project, also known as the Aberdeen offshore wind farm, comprises nine MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines and two MHI Vestas 8.8MW turbines , the most powerful units in the world, being installed on suction bucket jacket foundations some three kilometres off Aberdeen.

The wind farm is expected to generate first power this summer and operate for the next 20 years.

Apart from generating electricity, the wind farm will also be a centre for testing and developing new technologies for offshore wind power.
