Allseas’ pipelaying vessel Pioneering Spirit, the biggest vessel in the world, has left Rotterdam and set sail to Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

When it arrives to Norway, the vessel will conduct installation of the 22,000 t Johan Sverdrup drilling platform topsides for Equinor.

Pioneering Spirit will install the topsides for the drilling, processing and living quarter platforms.

The drilling platform topsides will be installed in 2018, and the processing and living quarter topsides will follow in 2019.

The vessel has a lifting capacity of 48,000 tons. The heaviest lift will be carried out during installation of the processing platform topside that weighs around 26,000 tons.
