Trinidad and Tobago’s sole liquefied natural gas production company, Atlantic LNG has appointed a new chief executive officer.

Nigel Darlow, who has been at the helm of Atlantic LNG since 2011 will be returning to the United Kingdom in July.

He will remain in Trinidad and Tobago over the next few weeks to support the transition of the incoming CEO, Philip Mshelbila, according to a statement by Atlantic LNG.

Mshelbila is a global business leader with over 20 years in the oil and gas industry and prior to his appointment to Atlantic LNG, he held the role of General Manager Gas, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Nigeria, the statement said.

Atlantic operates the 14.8 mtpa Point Fortin export facility that produces LNG from natural gas delivered from offshore fields north and east of Trinidad owned and operated by affiliates of the company’s members and others.

The LNG producing company is owned by BP, Shell, China’s sovereign wealth fund CIC unit Summer Soca and Trinidad’s state-owned company NGC.
