The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Wellesley Petroleum a drilling permit to drill an exploration well, which aims to investigate a prospect named Serin located in the North Sea.

The well 35/12-7 is located in production license 925 where Wellesley is the operator with an ownership interest of 90 per cent. Concedo is a licensee with 10 per cent.

The company has already obtained consent to drill the well using the Transocean Arctic drilling rig.

The drilling program for well 35/12-7 relates to the drilling of a wildcat. The area in this license consists of a part of block 35/9 and 35/12. The well will be drilled about 23 kilometers southwest of the Gjøa field and 7 kilometers east of Byrding.

The drilling is planned to begin in June 2018, with a duration of around 26 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Production license 925 was awarded in APA 2017, on 2 March 2018 and this is the second well to be drilled within the license.

It is worth mentioning that the Serin well is part of Wellesley’s North Sea drilling campaign , which has already started. The first well, named Kallåsen 35/12-6S, was spud earlier in May.

Both wells have contingent sidetracks and well tests depending on the well results.
