Japan’s Isuzu Motors has started a full-fledged public road demonstration of its first large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered truck in Japan.
As part of the demonstration, the vehicle manufacturer said in a recent statement it held an opening ceremony for the LNG fueling station and the departure ceremony of the LNG truck in Osaka City on Friday, June 1.
According to Isuzu, the LNG truck and fueling station have been developed as part of Japan’s Ministry of Environment project for reducing CO2 emissions.
Under that project, the Ministry of the Environment Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has launched a sub-project which includes the LNG truck and filling station development.
Isuzu said that the LNG-powered truck is expected to have an operating range of 1,000 kilometers or more and will travel between Japan’s capital Tokyo and Osaka.
CO2 emissions are expected to be reduced by about 10 percent compared to the latest diesel heavy vehicle fuel efficiency standard, Isuzu added.
