Norwegian marine seismic player PGS, in partnership with compatriot TGS, will allocate another vessel to the 2018 East Canada acquisition program.
In a joint statement on Monday, PGS and TGS said that the second vessel to join the East Canada acquisition program would be the Ramform Sterling.
This vessel will acquire a minimum 2,700 square kilometers of 3D seismic, including additional data within the 2017 Harbour Deep and Cape Broyle 3D survey outlines. The acquisition is expected to complete in the third quarter 2018.
According to the statement, following this eighth consecutive season of data acquisition offshore East Canada, the jointly-owned library will have more than 175,000 km of 2D GeoStreamer data and approximately 40,000 square kilometers of 3D GeoStreamer data.
Pre-processing of the initial GeoStreamer signal will be performed by PGS onboard the Ramform Sterling, following which TGS will perform data processing using its Clari-Fi broadband technology. Fast-track data will be available in the first quarter of 2019 with final data in the second quarter of 2019. The project is supported by industry funding.
The Ramform Sterling will join the Ramform Hyperion vessel which is currently conducting the Tablelands 3D GeoStreamer survey in an active Newfoundland area of the Flemish Pass and Orphan Basins. The survey started at the beginning of June.
