The Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project has been inaugurated on Tuesday in Turkey.

The pipeline is part of the Southern Gas Corridor 3,500 network that will transport gas from the Caspian Sea to Turkey this year and to Europe from 2020, the UK-based major BP said in its statement.

BP developed the Shah Deniz 2 project that will provide the gas to flow through the Southern Gas Corridor.

TANAP is a key link in the Southern Gas Corridor that will initially carry up to 16 billion cubic meters of Caspian gas per year to Turkey and Europe.

The project, along with the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) form the elements of the Southern Gas Corridor.
