The Netherlands that has developed a strong sector of LNG aims to promote the use of LNG for transport, industrial and household needs in Europe. Dutch companies see the Lithuanian LNG terminal as a gateway to the entire Baltic Sea region, a statement from Lithuanian president, Dalia Grybauskaitė ‘s office reads.

Shell, which has already started the transportation of small LNG cargoes from the Port of Klaipėda to new LNG distribution station tanks, as well as other Dutch companies are interested in closer cooperation with Lithuania.

Last year, in cooperation with Dutch companies, gas was reloaded from the floating LNG terminal “Independence” to a smaller vessel for the first time.
