The Scottish government is looking to commission a set of case studies to characterize the economic activity and social impact for Scotland arising from offshore wind, wave and tidal energy projects.

The case studies, being tendered for by Marine Scotland which is responsible for the integrated management of Scotland’s seas, will identify, measure and value the sector activities in support of the ‘scenario mapping’ for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy development.

The case studies should consider the potential economic activities and impacts across different stages of projects life-cycle – from scoping to the operational stage, including planning, manufacture of components, installation and maintenance, according to the tender announcement.

The studies should examine potential impacts in other related supply chains and identify what is or could be supported by Scotland’s economic sectors. The work should also explore the social impacts of these projects, Marine Scotland noted.

The deadline to apply to the tender has been set for July 5, 2018.

To remind, in its first energy strategy – Scotland has set a target of supplying half of all of its consumed energy from renewable energy sources by 2030.
