The first nacelle for one of the wind turbines which will spin at Denmark’s Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm has arrived in the Port of Esbjerg, where the project’s turbine components are waiting for installation that is expected to start in some four weeks.

Vattenfall’s 406.7MW offshore wind farm will comprise 49 MHI Vestas 8.3MW wind turbines, to be erected by A2SEA’s vessel Sea Installer.

The nacelle is the first one featuring Vattenfall’s new logo, since Horns Rev 3 is the developer’s first project that will carry the new logo on its turbines.

The logo is part of the rebranding of Vattenfall along the lines of its new purpose: Power Climate Smarter Living. Vattenfall wants to help its customers reduce the need for fossil fuels and make it possible to become fossil free within one generation. According to recent news related to the project, the installation of transition pieces is also due to start in July. The last monopile was put in place in January 2018.

The offshore wind farm, located 25-40 km off the Danish Jutland coast, is scheduled to be fully operational by 2020.
