An emergency dredging project to remove shoaled material from the Federal Channel at Port of Palm Beach is underway, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Jacksonville District said in its latest announcement.

During the work, approximately 15,000 cubic yards of dredged material will be removed from the channel utilizing the Cashman Dredging’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Atchafalaya.

According to a Port of Palm Beach official statement, the survey vessel Survey 2 and various other vessels will support the dredger.

The contractor will remove shoaled material from the Federal Channel and then transit to a near shore disposal area south of the entrance channel.
