UK-based major BP’s shipping unit has reportedly put its GEM class liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, British Ruby, up for lease.

The tanker would be leased to the interested party for at least nine months starting in December 2018 or the first quarter of 2019, Reuters reports, citing a company document.

The company invited expression of interest to be submitted by Friday.

The vessel has the capacity to transport 151,945 cubic meters of the chilled fuel and features dual-fuel diesel-electric (DFDE) engines.

With the increase in China’s demand for liquefied natural gas, and the market’s response to the demand has seen the LNG charter day-rates reach multi-year peaks. Week on week, the charter rates in the Atlantic reached $85,000, up from $65,000 during the previous week.
