Wave energy developer Mocean Energy is looking to hire a graduate numerical modeller to assist the company in its wave energy converter (WEC) modelling and design activities.
Founded in 2015, and headquartered in Edinburgh, Mocean Energy has been developing a hinged-raft WEC with novel hull geometry, characterized by sloped submerged nose and tail.
Wave forcing and the bodies’ dynamic responses causes a relative motion about the hinge that drives a generator to produce power.
To assist the company in the development of its new WEC design, a position for numerical modeler has been opened within the company.
The scope of work for the post includes running numerical hydrodynamic models and numerical optimisations, as well as validation of numerical outputs against physical tank tests.
The position is for one year time period, starting in September 2018.
