Report: ONGC hires Aban rig on a two-year run

India’s ONGC has reportedly hired the Deep Driller 8 jack-up drilling rig from its compatriot offshore drilling contractor Aban Offshore on a two-year deal.

India’s ONGC has reportedly hired the Deep Driller 8 jack-up drilling rig from its compatriot offshore drilling contractor Aban Offshore on a two-year deal.

According to data from VesselsValue, the contract will start on January 1, 2019, and end on December 31, 2020.

The Deep Driller 8 is a jack-up drilling rig capable of operating in water depths of up to 350ft, and a maximum drilling depth of up to 35,000 ft.

The rig was designed and built by Keppel in Singapore in 2008.

VesselsValue shows the rig was last on a contract with Hindustan Oil Exploration Co, on a two-month term between March 25, and May 25 2018.
