Beatrice Site Getting Busier, DP Gezina Joins the Vessel Party

The walk-to-work vessel Stril Server, together with the crew transfer vessel Marieco Mariah, is currently working on cable commissioning works on wind turbine foundations at the Beatrice project site, in preparation for the installation of wind turbines.

The walk-to-work vessel Stril Server , together with the crew transfer vessel Marieco Mariah, is currently working on cable commissioning works on wind turbine foundations at the Beatrice project site, in preparation for the installation of wind turbines.

The offshore wind farm site in the Scottish Moray Firth has become a busy place, as the heavy-lift vessel Oleg Strashnov is installing the last couple of jacket foundations, and commissioning works underway on the Offshore Transformer Modules (OTMs), with all the works gathering various vessels providing different services, including DP Gezina that is providing accommodation and logistical support for OTMs commissioning.

The cable laying vessel (CLV) Siem Aimery is currently in Hartlepool loading the cables for the next inter-array cable installation campaign. The vessel is expected to return to site around 15 July to resume the installation of inter-array cables.

The jack-up vessel Pacific Orca is anticipated to arrive at the Beatrice site soon to start installing the wind turbines. The vessel is currently at the Nigg port loading turbine components, after being mobilised for the project on 26 June.

The commissioning works for the wind turbines will then be carried out using the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Seacat Resolute and Fob Swath 3.

The 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm will comprise 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines, and the two Siemens OTMs that are already in place, which will be inter-connected by 91 x 33kV medium voltage AC subsea composite cables.
