Three holes have been found in the hull of a cargo vessel which ran aground on July 8 off Agusan del Norte, Philippine Coast Guard said in a statement.
At the time of the incident, the Islander 10 was carrying 25,969 liters of diesel fuel without cargo, according to the coast guard.
An investigation revealed that the 3,800 dwt vessel encountered big waves and strong currents which led to its grounding.
Although the investigation was temporarily canceled due to inclement weather, relevant authorities have resumed operations.
The Philippine Coast Guard said the authorities were monitoring the area for any signs of a potential oil spill.
The 2,441 gross ton aggregates carrier, previously named Poseidon 15, was built in China in 2008.
