South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries said Tuesday it won a contract to build four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for Capital Gas Carrier Corp., owned by Greek shipowner Evangelos Marinakis.

The deal is worth 836.5 billion won (US$744 million).

The LNG carriers are expected to be completed by the end of June 2021, Hyundai Heavy said in a filing to the stock exchange.

This deal marks the entry of Marinakis into the LNG world as the shipowner has no LNG carriers in its fleet.

There have been recently several media reports saying that Hyundai Heavy and Marinakis signed a letter of intent for up to 10 LNG carriers ranging in size from 170,000-180,000 cubic metres.

Hyundai Heavy did not provide any additional info in its filling.
