Offshore driller Transocean has been awarded an 11-well contract for the ultra-deepwater semi-submersible GSF Development Driller I offshore Australia.

Transocean said on Tuesday that, starting in the first half of 2019, the contract with Chevron Australia will last approximately 955 days.

The estimated firm contract backlog, excluding integrated services, is approximately $158 million.

Additionally, the contract for the 2005-built semi-submersible rig includes four one-well options.

The GSF Development Driller I is currently under contract with Quadrant Energy also offshore Australia. This contract expires in September and the rig will then move on to a one-well contract with PTTEP off Australia. The contract with Thai operator is scheduled to start in November and end in December 2018.

Transocean also recently won a long-term contract for a 1983-built semi-submersible drilling rig, Transocean 712.
