Chinese June LNG imports rise YoY

Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) into China during the month of June have risen compared to the corresponding period last year.

Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) into China during the month of June have risen compared to the corresponding period last year.

The country that is pursuing the switch from coal to natural gas for heating and industrial purposes, saw its June LNG imports reach 3.97 million tonnes, 31.3 percent above the volumes imported in the corresponding month last year, data from the General Administration of Customs shows.

However, compared to the month of May, imports dropped 0.18 million tonnes.

The data shows that LNG imports for the first six months reached 23.81 million tonnes. This is a 50.3 percent increase compared to the January-June period in 2017.
