Jeremy Kasper has been named a Deputy Director of the research department at the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP).

Kasper has been a valuable contributor to ACEP – dedicated to applied energy research and testing focused on lowering the cost of energy throughout Alaska – especially with regard to his leadership of the Alaska Hydrokinetic Energy Research Center (AHERC), the center said.

George Roe held the role of interim deputy director for the past year.

“Roe has been an invaluable contributor to ACEP across a range of initiatives and will continue to work with ACEP on a variety of topic-specific and strategic areas as a senior advisor/research faculty at around 50-percent workload,” ACEP said in a statement.

Kasper will continue as director of AHERC, but will also work closely with Gwen Holdmann to manage ACEP’s overarching research enterprise, particularly in the areas of strategic planning, budget/funding and relationship development.

AHERC focuses on applied research and engineering to address the questions of whether emerging hydrokinetic energy technologies are economically, technologically and environmentally sustainable.
