GeoSea’s multi-purpose, self-propelled jack-up vessel Apollo completed the full-height testing of its jacking system on 25 June 2018 at the Uljanik Shipyard in Pula, Croatia, rising above the city and its ancient landmarks such as the Pula Arena amphitheatre and Temple of Augustus.
Although the name is echoing ancient times, Apollo is a state-of-the-art vessel based on the GustoMSC NG-5500X design and is meant to undertake offshore wind installation and maintenance works, along with operations in the oil and gas industry.
GustoMSC commissioned Apollo’s jacking system in February 2018 and, according to a recent social media update by the Uljanik Shipyard, the vessel’s crane system was tested this month under the maximum load of 880 tonnes.
Croatian media writes that the vessel has been going through final trials, check-ups and testings lately, and that it will be delivered to the owner by the end of July.
Apollo is anticipated to sail out of the Pula port sometime after the delivery to GeoSea, a DEME Group subsidiary that ordered the vessel in 2014.
