Liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda decreased during the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2017.
The regasification and reloading volumes for the first six months were at 4.5 TWh, 7.2 percent below the volumes reported in 2017, as LNG prices rose and the reserved capacity declined.
Sales revenues for the first half declined by the same percentage to 32.46 million euro ($38 million) during the period under review, terminal’s operator Klaipedos Nafta said.
Higher global LNG prices and the consequent lower terminal capacities also impacted the terminal’s gasification.
The company noted that the small-scale LNG operations that started in late 2017, is facing a headwind, as the development of commercial activities of this infrastructure will face major challenges once the construction of the LNG reloading station is complete.
