Heerema Fabrication Group has conducted roll-up operations of the jacket foundation for the Offshore SwitchYard (OSY) platform, part of Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid (MOG) project.

Heerema, which earlier this year won a contract for the fabrication of the OSY platform, completed two jacket roll-ups at its specialized jacket yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.

The Dutch company is in charge of the procurement, fabrication and offshore hook-up and commissioning of the platform. Besides the current jacket activities in Vlissingen, Heerema is constructing the platform topside at its Zwijndrecht yard.

The 1,400-ton jacket is expected to be installed at the MOG project in the Belgian North Sea this November, with the topside installation scheduled for March 2019.

Once operational in the third quarter of 2019, MOG will connect the Rentel, Northwester 2 and Seamade offshore wind farms to a high-voltage substation located on the OSY platform. The Ramboll-designed OSY platform will then transfer the electricity to the Belgian onshore grid.
