Lithuania: Klaipeda LNG regas volumes plummet in July

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda plunged in July compared to the corresponding month last year.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda plunged in July compared to the corresponding month last year.

Klaipėdos Nafta, the LNG terminal operator, on Tuesday said that its facility regasified and reloaded 838,000 MWh of natural gas, a 49.8 percent drop compared to July 2017.

The regasification volumes for the January-July period, Klaipedos Nafta’s facility regasified and reloaded a total of 5.4 TWh, 18 percent below the 6.5 TWh during the corresponding period in 2017.

The preliminary sales revenue of the company’s LNG terminal for July reached €5.3 million ($6.1 million), sliding 5.4 percent from €5.6 million recorded in July last year. Likewise, the sales revenue for the January-July period dropped 1.3 percent from €61.3 million in 2017 to €60.5 million.

Lithuania, the largest of the three Baltic nations started importing LNG in December 2014. The FSRU currently provides Lithuania with roughly half of its gas needs with the rest being sourced from Russian Gazprom.
