The proponents of a tidal energy project on the River Mersey in Liverpool are looking to hire a Project Director to help move the scheme forward.

Gradually entering the next phase of its development – backed with completed initial feasibility works , and approved funding for the final business case – the Mersey Tidal Power project has revealed a requirement for a delivery program leader.

Namely, the Project Director for the scheme will focus on preparing an economic, technical and environmental business case for the project to be submitted to the Metro Mayor by November 2019.

The role will work closely with the Director of Commercial Development and Investment at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA), and the Chair of the Mersey Tidal Commission to advance the project.

To remind, the Chair of the Mersey Tidal Commission is Brent Cheshire – former UK Chair at wind energy company Ørsted, previously known as Dong Energy.

The Mersey tidal program is said to be a key priority for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) and its Metro Mayor as it has the potential to provide enough electricity to power every home and business in the city region and the surrounding area, according to the authorities.

The clean energy project would be a first of its kind, making use of the latest technology advancements and diversifying the UK’s energy mix by raising proportion of energy coming from renewable sources.
