Balltec has secured a contract from Saipem for the supply of two sheave connection points (SCPs) for Dolphin Energy’s emergency pipeline repair system (EPRS).

The EPRS supports the Dolphin gas project where natural gas from Qatar’s North Field is transported via two 36” diameter sealines to the company’s onshore processing plant at Ras Laffan, Qatar.

Once processed, the gas is then transported via export subsea pipeline from Ras Laffan to Taweelah, UAE.

The twin sealines were laid during early 2006.

The first gas from the North field wells was produced in June 2007.

In 2011, Subsea 7 as a subcontractor was hired to deliver the EPRS capable of performing repairs to the 48-inch gas export line and 36-inch sealines located offshore of the United Arab Emirates.
