Italian oil major Eni has found no hydrocarbons in an exploration well in Block 120 off Vietnam.

Eni’s partner in the block KrisEnergy said the Ca Lang-1 well reached a total depth of 1,933 meters measured depth on June 23, 2018. without encountering hydrocarbons. The well was plugged and abandoned. This was shared in KrisEnergy’s second-quarter report on Tuesday.

The well is located in the Block 120, operated by Eni’s Vietnamese entity with a 66.67% working interest. The company’s partner in the block is KrisEnergy with a 33.33% interest.

Block 120 covers 6,869 square kilometers offshore central Vietnam, overlying the Quang Ngai Graben in the north and central section of the contact area and passing into the Phu Khanh Basin in the southern portion of the block.

Prior to drilling the well, a 502 square-kilometer 3D seismic acquisition program on the block was completed back in 2015.

In the recent Eni-related news, the company has this week signed a new concession agreement for exploration in the East Nile Delta Basin of the Mediterranean Sea offshore Egypt.

It also signed a new agreement with Egyptian authorities for further exploration and production works at the Great Nooros Area, also in the Mediterranean Sea.
