Boskalis Subsea Cables & Flexibles – formerly VBMS – has signed a five-year subsea cable repair framework agreement with the UK Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO), Transmission Capital Partners (TCP).

TCP operates and maintains the transmission links as OFTO between the UK’s onshore grid and the Barrow, Gunfleet Sands, Ormonde, Robin Rigg, Lincs and Westermost Rough offshore wind farms.

“Boskalis are one of the most experienced cable installers and repairers in the market and we are delighted to have them supporting our portfolio of power cables,” Dominik Adamus , Commercial Director at TCP, said.

”This framework agreement will further support our drive towards reducing the time and costs of repairs by having immediate access to the universal joints and suitable fleet of vessels.”

The framework agreement provides access to the Boskalis-owned universal joints, which are deployable for many different types of cable including all of the cables within TCP’s portfolio, the company said.

In addition to the availability of the universal joints, the framework offer also ensures the availability of the fleet of Boskalis vessels and engineering expertise for complete cable integrity solutions. Boskalis will deploy its repair spread from its cable storage facility in the port of Vlissingen in the Netherlands, with direct access to the North Sea.

Arno van Poppel , Managing Director Subsea, said: “We are very proud that Transmission Capital Partners has joined a list of customers who have experienced the level of commitment, understanding and expertise provided by Boskalis for such fast response solutions. We hope that TCP’s cables remain healthy and operational, in the knowledge that we are always close by and ready to assist.”
