The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is looking for a consultant to identify and map out Turkey’s offshore wind and wave energy potential.
The selected consultant will also conduct a market assessment regarding offshore wind technology and review challenges, risks and opportunities in construction and operation phases of offshore wind farms; as well as prepare a cost breakdown and investment analysis of potential offshore wind farms in Turkey.
The project will result in an upgraded and updated Wind Energy Potential Atlas (REPA) covering both onshore and offshore wind potential in Turkey. A pilot study on the offshore wind potential of a selected region in the country will precede the full study. A Wave Energy Potential Atlas (DEPA) will also be developed.
The project should also yield a methodology to define setbacks for all type of wind energy power plants in Turkey based on EU regulations and taking best practices in the world into account.
The EUR 350,900 project is expected to start in October 2018, and has an estimated overall duration of nine months. The tender’s closing date is 3 September.
In June 2018, Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources invited applications for the development of a 1.2GW offshore wind project. Developers can submit their bids by 23 October.
