Haizea Wind Group’s facility in the Port of Bilbao has obtained five Lloyd’s ISO, EN and OSHAS certificates since its inauguration a little over two months ago.

The five certificates secured are ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001, ISO3834-2 and EN – 1090.

Officially inaugurated on 23 May, Haizea Wind’s facility in Bilbao specializes in the production of onshore and offshore wind turbine towers, as well as offshore wind foundations.

The factory has already completed its first assignment, the production of turbine towers for Vestas, and is currently working on orders placed by Siemens Gamesa and GE.

The plant has direct access to the 21-metres-deep ship docking and berthing area and, according to forecasts, it will use 142,500 tons of sheet metal and 7,500 tons of flanges, among other raw materials, annually. The 48,000m² plant on Dock AZ-2 also provides outdoor storage for finished products.

At peak production, the factory is expected to generate between 250 and 300 direct jobs.
