Deutsche Offshore Consult GmbH (DOC) has secured a contract to supervise the inter-array cable installation at the Trianel Windpark Borkum II project in Germany.

DOC said it will begin its work at the end of August with cable loading and the necessary preparations for the cable pull-ins at the substation, as well as on board the cable laying vessel Seaway Aimery.

The cabling consists of a total of four loops, with the inter-array cables magnetized so that they can still be located once they have been laid and buried.

In addition to Seaway Aimery, the subsequent cable laying and burial works will be carried out by Seaway Moxie, with twelve to fourteen representatives deployed to provide support during cable laying, pull-in and termination & testing at the offshore wind farm.

Under the contract, DOC is also in charge of quality assurance and communication with the project office on land.

Irina Lucke , Technical Director of Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co. KG, said: “The inner array cabling is the nerve system of the wind farm. A high level of competence and excellent quality assurance is crucial. We are pleased to have DOC by our side as a reliable and highly specialised project partner.”

The 200MW Trianel Windpark Borkum II will comprise 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines scheduled for commissioning by the end of next year.

Seaway Heavy Lifting’s Stanislav Yudin installed the first monopile at the project site at the end of June.
