Jiangnan Shipyard (Group), affiliated with the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has won an order to build two LNG carriers.
The order has been placed by JOVO Group, according to Asiasis.
The contract paves the way for Chinese shipbuilders to take a greater share of this high specification market segment, and marks Jiangnan’s debut in the sector.
The two 80,000 cbm carriers are expected for delivery in 2021, when they will start transporting LNG from Indonesia and Malaysia.
The ships will be IMO Tier III compliant.
