Woodfibre LNG has appointed David Keane as president, giving him the responsibility of leading the company’s proposed LNG export project in Canda’s British Columbia.
Keane brings more than 36 years of international business experience in the energy sector, Woodfibre LNG said in its statement.
Speaking of the project lauded as “one of the cleanest liquefied natural gas facilities in the world,” Ratnesh Bedi , president of Pacific Oil & Gas Limited, the parent company of Woodfibre LNG, said, “Keane’s unique understanding of what it takes to establish an LNG export industry in Canada, along with his international energy industry experience will help make this goal a reality.”
Prior to joining the company, Keane was with BG Group for 10 years serving as vice president, policy and corporate affairs. He has also served as vice president and chief administrative officer of Dynegy Europe and spent several years in various roles with Apache and Conoco.
The Woodfibre LNG project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of an LNG export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 cubic meters and would produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.
