The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has scheduled a webinar to provide stakeholders in marine energy and storage more information about evolving water power-relevant capabilities at its research facilities.

The webinar is meant to provide more details about the recently announced plans by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to broaden the focus of NREL’s National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) from predominantly wind research to also include marine hydrokinetic and energy storage.

The recently issued request for information by US DOE – calling for input on a high-value utilization of potential future capabilities at NWTC to advance water power technologies – is open for public input until September 5, 2018.

The webinar, however, will be held on August 27, 2018 and requires registration .

To remind, NWTC’s 305-acre site comprises field test sites, test laboratories, industrial high-bay work areas, machine shops, electronics and instrumentation laboratories, and office areas.

Funded through the US DOE, NREL is a government-owned facility based in Colorado that specializes in renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development.
