A bioLNG plant was officially opened on Monday in Norway by the country’s Prime Minister, Erna Solberg .
It is the world’s largest such facility, according to Sweden-based Puregas Solutions, a Wärtsilä company that provided equipment for the project.
The biogas upgrading and liquefaction plant was installed at the Norske Skog Skogn paper mill.
The plant will convert the cleaned biogas from fishery waste and residual paper mill slurry into liquid bioLNG fuel, Puregas said in its statement.
The plant, which will upgrade up to 3,000Nm3/h of raw biogas to renewable natural gas (RNG), will be part of the largest biogas liquefaction plant in the Nordic Countries producing fuel for public transport vehicles, it said.
