Vessel provider Esvagt has added a new multirole vessel to its fleet with a christening ceremony held on Thursday, August 23.

Esvagt informed on Friday, September 7 that the new vessel was named Esvagt Innovator by Stina Frederiksen , wife of Hess Denmark’s operations manager René Frederiksen .

The vessel is part of a 19-year-long collaboration between Hess and Esvagt on the South Arne field where the Esvagt Innovator was deployed to following the ceremony. The field is located 150 miles west of Esbjerg in the Danish North Sea.

Frederiksen said: “In Denmark, the company is the operator of the South Arne field in the Danish sector of the North Sea that has been producing oil and gas since 1999. Our asset is one of the largest oil producers in Denmark and adheres to rigorous operational standards.”

The Esvagt Innovator MRV is 82 meters long and can perform standby tasks, connection to tankers, and supply tasks, which Esvagt so far has handled with the Esvagt Connector vessel.

The vessel, built in the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey, can also perform other service tasks including maintenance and inspection of the oil export system.

The Innovator also has cranes on both railings, a DP2 system, an ROV hangar, and a dedicated ROV control room as well as an oil spill preparedness system.

Also, the vessel is ready for a gangway system so that technicians can be transferred either by boat or by walk-to-work.

In other company news, Esvagt in late August won an extension from Repsol for duty and standby preparedness on the Yme field.
