OOS Energy, a subsidiary of Dutch firm OOS International, has been awarded its first contract in Mexico by oil company Pemex.
OOS International said on Monday that its offshore service affiliate would provide the OOS Tiger 1 drillship as well as vessel management and drilling support to specialized vessel provider Marinsa and Pemex Drilling.
The company added that OOS Energy’s initial contract with Pemex would be approximately 15 months.
OOS International told Offshore Energy Today that OOS Energy is the rig manager.
It is worth mentioning that the drillship was previously named Opus Tiger 1.
According to data from Bassoe Offshore, an offshore rig brokerage, advisory, and project development company, the contract will begin on January 1, 2019. The contract is supposed to last for 455 days and end on March 31, 2020.
The Opus Tiger 1 drillship – or as it is now renamed the OOS Tiger 1 – was constructed at the Shanghai Shipyard in China and is a moored drillship capable of working in water depths up to 5,000 feet and has a maximum drilling depth of 31,500 feet.
The 5th generation drillship is of the CSSC Offshore Tiger Series and came into service for Opus Offshore back in 2015. According to data from VesselsValue, the company has the Tiger 2 and Tiger 3 drillships still on order apart from the operating Tiger 1.
