Japan’s Inpex has reportedly offered the first condensate cargo from its multi-billion dollar Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project at Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.
Inpex offered a 350,000-barrel cargo of Ichthys condensate to load on September 28-October 8 in a tender that will close later on Thursday, according to a Reuters report.
To remind, Inpex said last month it expected the Ichthys project to start shipping condensate, LNG and LPG in that order from around end-September to end-December.
The Ichthys LNG project will be able to produce up to 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tons of LPG at peak annually, with up to 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak, which could take up to three years to reach.
The project is a joint venture between Inpex, major partner Total, Taiwan’s CPC Corporation and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
